Consistency is one of the most common struggles women bring into coaching.

But what if consistency isn't actually the first problem?

What if the real issue is clarity?

When we're clear about what we want, why it matters, and what actions move us toward it, consistency becomes much easier.

Let's talk about why.

Why We Struggle With Consistency

Many people assume they have a discipline problem.

They think they need more willpower, more motivation, or more self-control.

Sometimes that's true.

But often the issue is confusion.

When we don't know exactly what we want, where we're going, or what actions matter most, we hesitate.

We overthink.

We become overwhelmed.

And overwhelm often leads to inaction.

Clarity Starts With Knowing What You Want

The first step is deciding what you actually want.

Not what someone else wants for you.

Not what you think you should want.

What do you want?

This sounds simple, but many women struggle to answer it.

After years of caring for others, it's easy to lose sight of your own desires, goals, and vision for your life.

Clarity begins with deciding.

How Clarity Helps You Take Action

Once you're clear about what you want, you can begin identifying the actions that support that goal.

For example:

Weight Loss

Vague:
"I want to lose weight."

Clear:
"I want to lose 40 pounds, have more energy, and feel stronger."

Relationships

Vague:
"I want a better marriage."

Clear:
"I want more connection, communication, and quality time."

Business

Vague:
"I want more clients."

Clear:
"I want five coaching clients and I help Christian women solve a specific problem."

The clearer the goal, the easier it becomes to identify the actions that matter.

Clarity Reduces Overwhelm

One of the greatest benefits of clarity is that it reduces overwhelm.

When everything feels important, nothing gets done.

Clarity helps us determine:

• What matters now
• What can wait
• Where to focus
• What actions deserve our attention

Instead of trying to do everything, we can focus on the few things that move us forward.

Consistency Creates Evidence

Once we're clear, consistency becomes easier.

And consistency creates evidence.

Evidence that:

• We can trust ourselves
• Progress is happening
• Change is possible
• We are becoming the person we want to be

That evidence builds confidence.

Confidence builds momentum.

Momentum helps us keep going.

Consistency Before Intensity

Many people try to jump straight into intense action.

They want maximum results immediately.

A better approach is:

Clarity

Consistency

Intensity

Get clear.

Start small.

Become consistent.

Then increase the intensity over time.

This approach is more sustainable and far more effective.

Conclusion

    Over and over and over again.

    The women who struggle the most…

    With consistency.

    are often struggling

    Not because they're lazy,

    Not because it's too hard,

    Not because there's something wrong with them,

    But, because they're unclear about what it is,

    that they want.

    They're unclear about what matters most.

    They're unclear about what actions

    are actually going to move them forward.

    And when we're unclear,

    We get overwhelmed, we procrastinate, we second-guess ourselves, we spin our wheels,

    Then we tell ourselves we're inconsistent.

    But what if the first step isn't trying harder and trying to push yourself,

    But what if that first step is about becoming more clear?

    And today, I want to talk about something I've been thinking a lot about lately, and it keeps coming up, and I just keep noticing it.

    a lot. I believe, absolutely, that consistency changes

    lives. I do believe that small actions taken consistently over time create amazing results.

    And I believe that consistency is

    way more important than perfection, because also, I believe, that perfection doesn't even exist.

    that it's actually unattainable,

    And if we even consider ourselves a perfectionist, we're shutting ourselves down.

    So, I believe every bit of that, and also, I'm noticing

    Lately, that there is a necessary step before consistency

    become simple and even easy.

    And I do… as I've been thinking about it, I noticed I do talk about this in coaching, in my coaching with my clients.

    Um, so, in my coaching, I talk about this a lot with my clients, I talk about consistency no matter what we're coaching on.

    I just haven't talked about it this clearly in this way before.

    Noticing and realizing that it will be very helpful to myself…

    Before, consistency is…

    And that first step is more clear.

    Not instead of consistency. It's not clarity instead of consistency.

    It's BEFORE consistency.

    Because the clearer we become,

    the easier consistency gets.

    And I see this everywhere. I see it in weight loss. I see it in relationships. I see it in coaching businesses.

    And I absolutely see it in my own life. And I will tell you,

    the easier it becomes to show up consistently.

    Why do you want it? I encourage people to come up with their list of whys,

    And then, what is it going to take to achieve that thing? But I haven't talked about it specifically as

    clarity before consistency, and I think that that really does matter.

    Why do we struggle with consistency?

    Most people think it's

    Because they have a discipline problem. They tell themselves, I just need more willpower, I need to try harder, I need to be more motivated.

    I just need to be more consistent, and sometimes that is true.

    Sometimes we simply need to do the thing that we committed to ourselves we are going to do.

    But many times the issue isn't a lack of discipline, it's…

    confusion.

    We don't know exactly what we want.

    We don't know exactly where we're going, we don't know exactly what

    Actions are even going to make a difference.

    And we don't know

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:25:21

    When… and when we don't know these things, we hesitate.

    We overthink, which I also consider underthinking. We second-guess.

    We get overwhelmed when we get overwhelmed, we stay stuck.

    Not because we're lazy, because we're unclear.

    So, imagine…

    Getting in your car and deciding, I'm gonna go on a trip.

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:25:43

    Get in the car, and you start driving, you stop for gas,

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:25:47

    You might turn here, you might turn there, you might make a few more turns, and a couple of hours later,

    somebody calls and says, hey, where are you headed?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:25:56

    And you say, I don't know, I'm just driving.

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:26:01

    kind of ridiculous, right?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:26:03

    But that's how we approach our goals sometimes, when we don't know what we want,

    why we want it, and what it's going to take to get there.

    We're not clear.

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:26:15

    And so, we're just kind of making random turns here and there, right?

    We know we want something different than what we have right now, but we're not completely clear on what that thing is.

    Clarity helps…

    Clarity is deciding what we actually want.

    So the first question…

    is just that. What do you want?

    Not what your spouse wants.

    Not what your parents want.

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:26:51

    Not what social media says you should want.

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:26:55

    Not what you think you should want, but what?

    Do you.

    want.

    And I know…

    for a fact that this can be harder than it sounds. It should be so easy to know what you want.

    But a lot of women have spent years taking care of everybody else, seeing to everybody else's needs,

    Managing everybody else's expectations, and somewhere along the way, we stopped asking ourselves,

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:27:23

    What do I want? What do I even want?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:27:27

    What kind of relationship do I want?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:27:29

    What kind of health do I want?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:27:31

    What kind of life do I want?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:27:34

    kind of business? Do I want a business? What kind of business do I want?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:27:38

    What kind of woman do I want to become?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:27:42

    And you cannot move intentionally towards something that you have not identified.

    So clarity starts…

    with deciding.

    Clarity helps us to identify what actually matters.

    Once we're clear about what we want, we can start asking,

    What is it going to take to get me there?

    What are the actual steps?

    that are going to get me from where I'm at.

    to that place that I want to be.

    And I am all about getting

    really, really…

    practical on a granular level.

    So, let's think weight loss.

    If I say I want to lose weight,

    Too vague. That's not clear.

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:28:34

    But if I say, I want to lose 40 pounds,

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:28:39

    And I know that as I do that, I will have more energy, I want more energy, I want to feel strong.

    Now that I know exactly what it is that I want,

    And the reasons that I want

    to do that, I can start asking,

    better questions. What habits support the goal of losing weight?

    creating energy and feeling stronger.

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:29:05

    What are the habits that I'm doing that I'm currently practicing that work against that goal?

    What actions move me closer?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:29:15

    What actions move me farther away?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:29:18

    And I would get even…

    deeper than that, when am I going to do these things?

    That will move me closer.

    What does that look like in my regular daily life?

    But we're talking about clarity, so getting clear.

    helps you to be able to

    Um, to incorporate

    taking consistent action towards that goal.

    And the same thing applies in…

    so many areas, and I coach on all of these areas,

    And this applies to all of them.

    It applies to relationships.

    a statement that somebody might say is, I want a better marriage.

    Okay, what does that mean?

    more connection, more communication, more quality time with one another.

    Then, that's clarity.

    And then we can identify what are the actions that you can take consistently to support that goal.

    Same thing applies to business.

    And I see this a lot,

    business coaching clients.

    is I want more clients, or…

    the coaches that I work with get frustrated that they don't… that they're not getting clients, and they think other people are getting clients.

    And so I asked them,

    What are you doing?

    What action are you taking?

    to invite people in.

    to become clients.

    And I usually get a blank stare.

    And it's not laziness, it's not lack of desire, it's lack of clarity.

    So then I ask, how many clients do you want?

    Who are these clients?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:31:11

    What problem do you help them solve?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:31:15

    What offer are you making them to invite them to become your clients?

    [Shanna Pyzer | shannapyzer.com] 20:31:20

    What is the action that you want them to take next?

    And the clearer we become,

    Overwhelm keeps us from taking action.

    And when we're unclear,

    everything feels important. We need to be doing everything.

    Every strategy, every opportunity, every idea, taking every piece of advice, well, they said to do that, and they said to do that, and I need to do all of it.

    So then, we become overwhelmed.

    And we either wear ourselves out trying to do it all,

    Or… we become overwhelmed, and we go into inaction, and we stay stuck.

    And then we wonder why we're exhausted.

    And clarity helps us to…

    eliminate. It helps us to focus.

    This doesn't. This thing is for now, that thing is for later.

    And suddenly, we don't feel overwhelmed anymore. We know where to start. We know what matters. We know where our focus

    is directed.

    And this matters so much for my clients that are coaches.

    And that's top of mind because a lot of my clients right now are coaches, and I have a coaching

    program, actually two different coaching programs.

    Um, but it… it's this… it is so important for my weight loss clients, my clients that are working on relationships,

    it matters to everybody, and it really matters to my

    clients that are coaches that are working on cultivating their own coaching practice.

    And this… this is where I have started thinking about it, and where it's… where it's… where it has become.

    Um, so it is for my coaching clients that I have really come to

    be thinking about this clarity…

    Before consistency.

    Because a lot of coaches think that they have a consistency problem. They need to post more, they need to show up more, they need to market more, they need to be more visible.

    And while all of those things matter, consistency absolutely matters.

    a lot of times, I'm noticing what's keeping them from being consistent, from showing up consistently,

    from posting consistently is an issue of clarity.

    They aren't clear on who they're helping, what problem they hope to solve,

    The transformation that their coaching helps someone to get.

    what the offer is that they're putting out into the world, inviting people to the next step to take

    Um, to become their client.

    And what action you want that potential client to take.

    And when those things become clear,

    Content gets easier. Marketing gets easier, visibility gets easier.

    talking about your coaching gets easier, and consistency

    becomes easier. It becomes inevitable, and it is way more effective.

    And then you start building consistency in taking that action.

    That is going to move you closer to that thing that you want,

    Once you're clear on what you want, consistency becomes easier. And that consistency, that taking action repeatedly over time, creates evidence.

    Evidence that we can trust ourselves.

    evidence that progress is happening.

    relationships, building a business, whatever it is.

    One of the mistakes that we make is trying to jump straight from doing nothing to do it intensely.

    to having a high intensity, going from not working out to going to the gym 2 hours a day.

    5 days a week.

    We want maximum results immediately. We want the whole transformation right now.

    But the better path, the more sustainable path, is get clear,

    Get consistent in taking even the smallest action.

    And then, once you're consistent taking that action, then you can increase intensity.

    So, walk consistently.

    Even a short walk, and then…

    After you're consistent at walking,

    every day, or 5 days a week, or whatever it is that you intend to do.

    Once you get consistent at doing that, then you can walk farther.

    Or you can walk longer.

    Maybe you start interceding for other people.

    Start with consistency.

    Build evidence, and then level up.

    So, if you've been telling yourself, if you've been thinking, if you've been talking about it, I just need to be more consistent, why can't I just be consistent?
