How to Build Habits That Last: A Christian Approach to Identity and Consistency

The Christian Life Coach Podcast Episode 75

In a coaching program I am very active in, July we talk about habits.

This is a topic very close to my heart! I talk about habits often, and I think about them even more often than I talk about them.

I have been paying attention to and thinking through my own habits. I practiced and solidified some great nourishing habits that enabled me to lose over 80 pounds a few years ago, and then the weight started to creep up.

Why?

Because I wasn’t paying as much attention to those habits. I had shifted my focus onto my coaching practice. I allowed myself to become more permissive (lax) in the habits that would have helped me to maintain my weight.

So, if I want to get back down to my ideal weight (the one I would like to maintain), I want to focus more on those habits and incorporate them back into the habits that I am practicing in my life and business.

Our intentional habits require our attention if we want to continue to practice them.

In this episode I talk about:

  • Habits are always moving you in on direction or another

  • Goal-oriented habits vs. Identity-based habits

  • Why our habits need our attention

  • Using the habit tracker

  • and more…
