More consistency…. Less giving in

We often tell ourselves that this little thing won’t make a difference, so I’ll just skip today, or I’ll just eat a little bit more or just this once won’t hurt.

We give in to the little things in the moment and those little things and those moments add up.

Let me be clear, perfection is not the goal.

Consistency is the goal.

When we have determined what it is that we want to accomplish or improve and have set our intentions to do the things that will get us there, giving in in those moments when we don’t feel like sticking to our plan, weakens our determination. It builds the muscle of giving in.

The times that we overcome that desire to give in build our muscle of consistency. And The impact is not noticeable right away, but when you look back over time you will see how those little steps mattered. Just like the times that you’ve given in matter. They have slowed you down.

Again, perfection is not the goal. Consistency, creating habits and a rhythm that help you to live on purpose is the goal.

When you do give in, in the moment, guilt and shame are not needed or helpful. Decide… what’s my next best step and move on.

Pray:

God, I know that only You are perfect. Perfection is not my desire. I want to be more and more consistent in doing the things that I know will grow me into the person I want to be. Help me to remember in those moment of weakness WHY is is important to stick to my plan and do what I said I wil do. Help me to see the impact over time. Thank you God.

Amen.

Who [with reason] despises the day of small things (beginnings)? For these seven [eyes] shall rejoice when they see the plumb line in the hand of Zerubbabel. They are the eyes of the LORD which roam throughout the earth.
