The things that we do on a regular basis demonstrate who we are, where we are going and what we will achieve. They are the habits that set the rhythm for our life. When we want to make changes we think that we have to start doing certain things and stop doing certain things. That have to thought could be just the thing that is getting in your way of making the changes that you want to make.
Habits can be used to set the beat of your days, the tempo that determines the rhythm in which you move.
Habits are what you work to create FOR you, not TO you to create a life that you enjoy and that develops you into the person that you want to be.
When you think about them as what you want to do to create a life rhythm that you enjoy, you are much more likely to do them consistently over time, creating the change that you want in your life.

Small, consistent actions taken over time create amazing results. It doesn’t take sweeping change to make a difference. Usually making sweeping changes sets you up for failure and going right back to your old ways of doing things. Starting by taking small simple actions over time will create lasting change.
Your thoughts about what it will take to create the habits you want in your life will determine whether or not you develop them. When you tell yourself that you have to do something everyday for the rest of your life, you are going to want to buck against doing that thing. When you remind yourself that you want to do that same thing because you are creating a life rhythm that you enjoy and that feels good, you are much more likely to follow through.
