Be Your Own Cheerleader

I’m part of an amazing group of Jesus-following women that meet online for devotions at 6:30 am on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I don’t always make it because I’m heading out for work at that time. Recently, I had the day off and got to join in from my comfy cozy couch.

One of the ladies was talking about always being a cheerleader for others, but not always getting a return on that investment in the form of someone cheering her on. Which, she clarified, is not her expectation. But, it would be nice to be on the receiving end sometimes.

Who hasn’t felt this way?

My response to this?

Ladies…. Be YOUR OWN cheerleader!

I say it all the time.

Celebrate.  Every.  Single.  Win!

You cleaned up as you cooked a meal?

Kitchen Dance Party!

You followed through and sent a thank you card?

Fist Pump!!!

YES!

You put the fork down before you wanted to, but realized your were satisfied?

Jump up and down and celebrate that win!!!!

Every time you walk into the bathroom and glimpse yourself in the mirror…

STOP…

Look in your eyes and smile,

Or even better…

Look in your eyes and compliment yourself… about anything!

What does doing these things matter?

A LOT!

Every time you celebrate, compliment yourself, smile at yourself in the mirror you are providing yourself with a natural hit of pleasure (in the form of dopamine).

If you are providing experiences of natural pleasure, you will decrease your need to find artificial sources of pleasure…. Sugar, alcohol, shopping….

So, by all means… keep cheering others on!

Be an encourager.

Inspire and motivate others.

But not to your own detriment.

Give yourself what you wish someone else would give you.

Cheer yourself on!!!!!

Celebrate each and every win!
